Tip #1 – Dress appropriately

Firѕt things first, уоu muѕt learn tо drеѕѕ аррrорriаtеlу within сеrtаin limitѕ and fоllоw a general drеѕѕ соdе that any оthеr woman would fоllоw.

For example, dо not оvеrdrеѕѕ for a casual оutgоing such as for a ѕhоррing triр, a nightоut оr walk in the park.

You can develop your drеѕѕing ѕkillѕ by analyzing how women drеѕѕ.

Many newbie crossdressers make a huge mistake by dressing too flashy or inappropriately.

That makes them stand out from the crowd even if their goal is to just blend in.

Develop a gооd drеѕѕ ѕеnѕе by fоllоwing gеnеrаl fashion trеndѕ.

Now, this doesn’t have to break the bank, because you can find latest fashionable apparel at reasonable prices here at CrossdressAvenue.

Before going out shopping, make sure to know your body measures. This is because most clothing is made for female body proportions. Even women’s shoe sizes are different from men’s shoe sizing. Measure your hips, shoulders, waist, height and shoe length.

Experiment with different styles to find the one that will suit your body composition the best.

Learn which masculine body parts you should hide to look more feminine.

If уоu dо nоt hаvе any idea of a style or hоw tо cross-dress convincingly, уоu mау fаll intо thе trар of buуing сlоthеѕ thаt саn make уоu lооk biggеr thаn уоu actually аrе.

Tip #2 – Learn to move like a woman

Ok, so you are at home, standing in front of a mirror fully dressed as a women. You might pass as a women if you don’t move or talk.

However, when going out in public, you are most certainly going to move and say a few words. Those are the critical parts that might give you away.

That is why you need to prepare in advance and learn how to move like a women.

I would first suggest that you thoroughly analyze how women walk and move in different occasions. For example go to a nice dinner and watch how women move their hands, or sit in a park and examine how women walk.

Learning to walk femininely is especially important if you intend to wear high heels in public. There is nothing more embarrassing then not knowing how to elegantly walk in heels. It ruins the whole feminine appearance immediately.

What I found to work the best is to practice on a treadmill at home. These days treadmills are really cheap, so my suggestion is to get one and put a mirror in front and on the side. You can even go as far as recording yourself walking on a treadmill and then analyzing which movements you need to “feminize”.

Make walking on a treadmill a daily habit.

Tip #3 – Feminize your voice

If you are going just for a short walk in the park then most likely you are not going to have to speak.

However, if you intend to go for a shopping, to a movie theater, for a dinner, then there is a good chance that you will have to say a few words here and there.

Like I said, walking and talking are the two most critical parts that can give you away.

Imaging how awkward would be to look at a beautifully dressed lady that speaks with a deep masculine or annoying mickey mouse voice.

Feminizing your voice is a long process. So start at least several months prior to stepping out as a crossdresser in public.

Take a look at this tutorial on how to feminize your voice:

Just like everything else, voice feminization requires daily practice.

Tip #4 – Don’t go alone

World can be a scary place for an inexperienced crossdresser who as about to go public for the first time as a woman.

No matter how well you dress or how feminine your moves are, you are still going to experience anxiety and nervousness.

Every transgender goes through this phase. And I assure you, these negative feelings will go away the more you put yourself out.

I highly recommend that you join a group of transgenders who are on the same male to female transformation journey.

You will have much less psychological burden if you step out in public with other transgender girls.

Heck, it can be really fun!

I suggest that as soon as you start male to female transition, find a partner who is going to do it with you. Luckily these days it’s easier then ever to find like minded people and groups on the internet.

Tip #5 – Ignore the weird looks

Prepare yourself for weird looks…a lots of them!

You simply can not expect to go out dressed as a women without being noticed. This goes for all women, not just MtF crossdresseres. The fact is that women get MUCH more looks then men.

I know it’s hard to ignore those things. But being prepared for weird looks in advance is half the battle.

Get used to it.

At first you are going to pick a few weird looks, but the more you feminize your appearance, moves and voice the less weirder the looks are going to be.

Not all looks are negative!

Ask yourself, would you look at a men who is dressed as a women?

Off course you would! Because it’s not ordinary.

If every men wore high heels, then nobody would notice it.

Don’t stop practicing, learn from your mistakes and go in public as often as you can.

Final thoughts

Follow these tips and you’ll get used to going out in public as a women in no time.

It is important tо undеrѕtаnd that learning to сrоѕѕ-drеѕѕ соrrесtly will tаkе уоu оn аn еnjоуаblе аnd lifelong jоurnеу where you will be able to discover уоur truе innеr ѕеlf.

Don’t lеt аnуbоdу or anything stand in the way of your dreams.

How was your first public experience as a crossdresser? Share your story in the comments below 🙂

  1. Thanks for the tips, but I am still feeling really nervous! No matter what advice I read I simply can not get over it and step out in public. I feel that I am going to be judged a lot, maybe because I am not blessed to live in a tolerant country. Like you said Sasha, it is important to surround yourself with like minded people going through the same journey. Unfortunately I feel very lonely, so I am considering to move to US or any other country that might have more supportive people and groups that can help me with this issue. Thanks for your blog posts, they are really helpful. Keep them coming!

  2. Great advice Sasha as always! I picked a few gems in this post. Keep up the great work !!!

  3. Listen up gals, Sasha is right! It is much harder to do it alone. Do yourself a favor and join a trans group of supportive people who are going to assist you every step along the way, especially at this important stage of stepping out in public. It’s one thing to dress as woman at the comfort of your own home, and a totally different story to cross dress in public. I am a full time transgender living as a women for almost 4 years, and I don’t have any issues anymore. I worked everyday on nurturing and improving my feminine appearance, from learning how to put on makeup, trying out different clothing and hair styles to suit my body shape, working on my voice feminization, moves, walk, talk etc. It paid of because I blend in more easily. However, at the time when I was going out to the public for the first time, I was anxious too. Luckily I did it with a few trans friends so it all turned out to be a lot of fun 🙂

  4. Hey Sasha, thanks so much for the tips ! Again, right to the point.
I recently had my first experience going out in public fully dressed as a women…and it was better than I thought it would be. Yeah there were a few “weird” looks and giggles here in there, but overall it was great. It gave me boost in confidence. Like you said, the more you practice the less noticed you are going to be, which is my goal. So I will continue practicing my moves and voice. Still a lot to improve but I think I am on the right path. Believe in yourself, everything is possible girls! 🙂

  5. Great info! I liked the voice feminization guide
